Ferrari's Italian Ristorante
The Cedar Valley is great, with quite a few upscale restaurants. Since we have children, we often don't get a chance to go "uptown," so visiting Ferrari's during their Anniversary week (and $10 off!) was quite an adventure. The atmosphere and fixtures are fabulous. I certainly like that huge fish tank behind the bar. The food was a let down though. Don't get me wrong, I can pay $20-35 for an entree if I know it's going to be good, but it wasn't $20-$35 good. It was chain restaurant good. I had gnocci and fish. I could get better pasta at Biaggi's in Cedar Rapids, and fish about the same as Red Lobster. Both for half of the cost. My Gnocci was cold. Okay...only a few of them were, the rest were just lukewarm. And the fish... I needed a knife to cut it..? Not my idea of good fish. If I can't get through it with a fork, then there's something wrong here! Award winning chef?! From 4-H?? If that's what comes from an award-winning kitchen, I honestly have to question just what award it was. The menu has unlimited potential. If only it tasted as good as it was described on the menu. Maybe some other things on the menu are better, but as they say, first impressions are everything.
